Back to School Overview

Lesson 1: Are You Dressed for Battle?
Bible: Ephesians 6:13-18
Lesson Description: Have you ever thought of your high school as a battleground? Think about it. You go there every day, facing challenges every day. There are spiritual challenges and temptations. There are times when you have to fight for your faith. It really is a sort of battleground. You should be “putting on” the armor of God every day before you go to school.

Lesson 2: So Much to Do, So Little Time
Bible: Psalm 90:12; Ephesians 5:15-17; James 4:14
Lesson Description: We live in a generation that demands instant gratification, yet spend hours and hours on things that don’t truly matter. This can leave us with little to no time to focus on what’s import and responsibilities that actually need to get done. Learning time management isn’t only helpful with this, it’s Biblical!

Lesson 3: Under Pressure
Bible: Matthew 4:1-11; 1 Corinthians 10:13
Lesson Description: Peer pressure is inevitable in high school. No matter how strong you are, there are always going to be times where it is tempting to give in. If you don’t decide now how you’re going to react to peer pressure, it’s going to be a lot harder to do the right thing when you’re trying to make that decision in the heat of the moment.

Lesson 4: Being Juicy Fruit, Part 1
Bible: Galatians 5:22-24; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a; Romans 15:13; Philippians 4:7; Proverbs 19:11; Ephesians 4:32
Lesson Description: You are going to be around tons of new people this year, and you may be the only version of Jesus that they ever see. If you live your life with the fruit of the Spirit, the example they see in you will be a good one.

Lesson 5: Being Juicy Fruit, Part 2
Bible: Galatians 5:22-24; Psalm 145:9; Psalm 27:13; Joshua 24:14; Philippians 4:5; Proverbs 25:28
Lesson Description: Living each day of your life at school with the fruit of the Spirit is difficult, but so incredibly worth it. If you live out these fruits, the people around you will be able to see that there’s something different about you, and that can open doors to share the love of God.

Lesson 6: Shine Bright
Bible: Matthew 5:13-16; Ephesians 5:8
Leader Description: This verse is all about people looking at you and noticing you. Not because of something you do, but because you are the light of the world. You’re supposed to let your light shine before everyone. Are you doing that in school, or are you covering it up, just trying to get through this year?

Lesson 7: Do You Really Know Him?
Bible: Matthew 6:9-13; Read Psalm 119:105; Psalm 145:18; Matthew 6:6
Leader Description: We’ve learned a lot in this series about how you should live this school year, and a lot of it has to do with sharing what God has give you with others. However, you can’t be poured out unless you are also being filled up. You’re filled up by spending time with God. And you can’t share God with others unless you really know Him! Knowing God comes through prayer and reading the Bible.

Lesson 8: Keeping the Focus
Bible: Matthew 6:33; Micah 6:8
Lesson Description: The carefree days of summer are over, and now it’s time to get back to school. You know you’ll have to focus on many things this school year, but are you focusing on the right things?

Back to School

I have not used this but will prepare to use it when school starts in the fall. Our country church is small my class consists of 3 8th graders, 2 jr, 1 sr. Finding a curriculum that fits their maturity level has been a challenge. This curriculum has given me an opportunity for discussion and understanding especially separating God’s word vs. human desire or thinking. I look forward to using it.
