Bible Study Overview:

Lesson 1: Hope
Bible Verses: Romans 15:13, I Timothy 4:10, Psalm 62:5-6, Deuteronomy 31:6, I Peter 1:3
Bottom Line: We can observe the first theme of Advent, “Hope,” by placing our hope in Christ, both now and for the future.

Lesson 2: Love
Bible Verses: Matthew 22:34-40, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Bottom Line: The second week of Advent celebrates the theme of “Love.” Love requires action and is something we should show to God and others.

Lesson 3: Joy
Bible Verses: John 16:23-24, Galatians 5:22, Psalm 4:7, Romans 12:12, Psalm 5:11, James 1:2-4, Psalm 16:9-11
Bottom Line: During the third week of Advent, we reflect on joy – and true joy only comes from knowing Christ.

Lesson 4: Peace
Bible Verses: 1 Samuel 16-17
Bottom Line: The fourth week of Advent allows us to reflect on the peace that we find through Jesus – peace that helps us and others.

WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT OUR BIBLE STUDIES?

A Balance of Teaching & Discussion

All our small group series have a balance of teaching and discussion. Each lesson is an even amount of reading the Bible/teaching and student discussion. They’re not 90% teaching and 10% discussion, like our teaching series and small group studies you’ll find elsewhere.

The goal is for students to talk about the Bible, what it means to follow Jesus, their questions & doubts, what God is doing in their lives, and so on.

This format encourages group interaction, personal application, and keeps students engaged. Getting students talking about their faith is the secret sauce to a small group, and all our series are formatted with that goal in mind.

Two Key Components

Our small group series format helps students become Biblically rooted and gives them the opportunity to form God-centered relationships.

1. Biblically Rooted
The Bible, like the roots of a tree, brings life, nourishment, and stability to the lives of students. Scripture deepens their relationship with God, gives them the wisdom to make good decisions, brings clarity to the problems they face, and so much more.

In each small group series, students dive deep into a book of the Bible, which will firmly root them in God’s Word and provide a foundation to build their lives upon.

2. God-Centered Relationships

These small group series provide students an opportunity to develop God-centered relationships with others. As we read throughout the New Testament, discipleship happens in the context of relationships. The goal is to create an environment where students know others and are known; accept others and are accepted; love others and are loved; and pray for others and are prayed for. We’re intentional about helping them grow in their relationship with God and others.

First Sunday of Advent Lesson

It was very well done. I used the lesson during our worship service on the First Sunday of Advent. I’m a lay speaker in a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in NC. Thank you for continuing to publish great material. MERRY CHRISTMAS
